4,000 copies of a perennial calendar / diary (which can be used for several years) dedicated to the project themes (indicative title: "Acqua Preziosa"), with synthetic texts and explanatory illustrations, were printed. In addition to the classic indications on correct behavior (closing the taps, taking a shower instead of the bathroom, etc.), even lesser-known topics have been dealt with on the agenda - always in terms of simple and immediate communication. 3,000 agendas were distributed on the occasion of the start of the activity at the beginning of the year. 2017/2018 (September) and are always taken to events in which the project partners participate.
A specialized company will be given the task of preparing a table-top role-playing game on city water management for high school students (aged 13 and over). The instructions of the game will be completed in Italian and English. The game will allow you to explore the urban water cycle: collection, potabilization, distribution, use, collection of discharges, mixed and separate sewers, spillways, sewage and drainage, including drainage of rainwater. The aim of the game will be to highlight the complexity of the urban water cycle and show how its management can be improved by reducing losses and consumption and using unconventional resources (eg rainwater). The game will be set in the common recipients of the project and players will be able to interpret the role of an important person for the management of urban water (eg the public administrator, the manager of the water service, the watercourse manager , citizens, etc. ..) and, through conversation and dialectical exchange, develop virtual scenarios where, in response to fictitious facts generated by the game itself (eg meteoric events, availability of public funding, ...), it is determined the structure of the water service in the territory concerned. The game mechanics will be set up to emphasize the value of the demonstration actions implemented in REWAT, in order to allow a tangible parallelism between the play activity and the direct experience in the intervention sites. The game allows you to explore alternative land management options, acting on the use of land, on the management of watercourses and water networks, on management procedures. By way of example, it will allow us to appreciate the effectiveness (multi-objective) of a river redevelopment and / or recharge of groundwater with respect to the creation of a surface accumulation reservoir. The basic idea of this part of the project is to transfer the most sophisticated approaches for the understanding of water management phenomena in urban areas to a scale that can be used by non-expert users through the support of a game. This solution makes it possible to have an appropriate work tool, both for actions to raise awareness among the general public (eg school pupils) and for the training of experts (eg technicians in the sector). The game will be produced in 1,000 copies and distributed free by ASA to schools, parishes, youth educational associations and other groups of young people. The game can be re-edited by ASA with its own funds and further distributed as part of its information campaigns in the post-LIFE period on the basis of possible requests from the interested public.
An explanatory brochure on sustainable water management will be prepared in 2,000 copies. It will be in color and richly illustrated with diagrams, graphics and photos, including a catchy iconography (eg a humorous vignette) and an interactive part (eg 3D brochure), and will present tips for saving domestic water and solutions for reduce consumption, for example by using rainwater. It will be distributed by ASA both in its own offices and during conferences and public events in which ASA participates, including the activities planned within the REWAT project. It is estimated that each brochure distributed, due to the cited attractive character, can reach at least 5 users on average, for a total of 10,000 users involved.
Instead of having an expert who goes to schools, training for trainers was organized, organizing, in convection with the Comprehensive Campiglia Marittima and Suvereto, three training days in September 2017 for teachers of primary school and school lower average in the 3 municipalities object of the interventions foreseen by the project. With the budget foreseen for this sub-action, LIM will be purchased for the schools and the children will be taken to visit the sites of the interventions.
As of December 1, 2017, ASA has implemented a specific information desk that can be activated with a telephone number, a dedicated email address, which has been advertised on all the social channels of the project. The desk will provide information to those interested in improving water management, providing technical and management information on the behavior to be taken and the solutions to be applied. ASA staff will be appropriately trained thanks to action B3 (capacity building). At least 500 contacts are estimated within the duration of the project.
In order to promote the aforementioned awareness initiatives and to favor a broad use of the services activated with this action, it is planned to buy space on local media (newspapers and magazines, radio, websites).
The budgeted figure for external specialized communication assistance has been used to increase the budget of the role play, so as to create a more useful, versatile and innovative tool.
