The Life REWAT project activities will be presented by Dr. Rudy Rossetto (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna) within the next EGU (European Geosciences Union) General Assembly will take place in Wien on April 8th-13th, 2018.

The contribution “Using flood water in Managed Aquifer Recharge schemes as a solution for groundwater management in the Cornia valley (Italy)” has been awarded oral presentation within the scientific session “Nature Based Solutions for hydrological extremes and water resource management”, specifically related to Nature Based Solutions (NBSs) for developing new or improving existing modelling approaches/decision support tools.

Dr. Rossetto will present the REWAT project as a whole and then will then focus on the pilot Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) infiltration basin, designed and set in operation in Suvereto.

The case study served also as test to the new-issued Italian regulation on artificial recharge of aquifers (DM 100/2016).

This MAR solution will be presented as a hydrological experiment around NBSs, aimed at contributing to groundwater management in the Cornia valley.

The EGU International Conference is the largest EU conference of the geoscience area; it brings every year more than ten thousands geoscientists from all over the world, providing a common framework where all disciplines of the Earth, biogeosciences, and planetary and space sciences are dealt with.
