Alberto Mantino, researcher at the School of Advanced Studies Sant'Anna of Pisa will present the project LIFE Rewat at the XLV National Congress of the Italian Society for Agronomy (SIA), "The agronomic research in 2030: global objectives of sustainable development", at the Department of Agriculture Sciences, University of Sassari the next 20 to 22 September. The conference will be an opportunity to examine the role of the Italian agricultural research on the achievement of the Global Objectives 2015-2030 for the Sustainable Development (SDG) identified by ONU.

The project will be presented during the poster session with a contribution titled: “Life project REWAT: sustainable water management in the lower Cornia Valley” and deal with the preliminary results of Sub-surface drip-irrigation demonstration action carried out in Venturina.
Drip irrigation system allowed a higher water use efficiency and yield in artichoke cultivation than other low efficiency system (i.e. furrow or sprinkler). The aim of the project is demonstrating the feasibility of a sub-surface drip irrigation (SDI) system in artichoke cultivation in order to reduce the water consumption for irrigation in lower Cornia valley.
